After having a very inquisitive toddler (read: too curious for his own good) go through our kitchen drawers and pull everything out from wooden spoons to cookie cutters, peelers and graters! We decided to look at a can opener that was the safest overall (after putting everything sharp out of reach!). I’ve had all sorts of can openers from the old style can opener, the really old style one, to the newer style that I think was even called the Magican opener here in Australia (which cut the tin horizontally around the edge of the cylinder, rather than vertically and left a sharp rim around the top of the can) to the Smart can opener which fell apart after two uses (made of plastic and seemed promising at first) so I was never really happy with any of them. I decided to do some research to see if there was something better and I came across this one. It fit all my criteria: Safety can opener, no sharp edges, stainless steel, durable, never touches the contents. And bonus you can put the lid back on the can if you want to!
